While in Iowa over the weekend, former Sen. Scott Brown floated the idea of a presidential bid in 2016, even stopping at the Iowa State Fair, a rite of passage for any presidential contender.
At the Iowa State Fair Sunday, Brown told supporters he was "exploring a possible run" and indicated to reporters that he's interested in seeing how voters in Iowa feel about him.
"I'm going to be coming out more often to try to determine whether there's an interest in my brand of leadership and Republicanism," Brown told the Des Moines Register Saturday.
"I want to get an indication of whether there's even an interest, in Massachusetts and throughout the country, if there's room for a bi-partisan problem solver," Brown told the Boston Herald. "It's 2013, I think it's premature, but I'm curious. There's a lot of good name recognition in the Dakotas and here - that's pretty good."
Brown has toyed around with pursuing political office again after losing his senate seat to Elizabeth Warren in November. Brown has expressed interest in running for governor and a Senate seat in Massachusetts, and he's also considering a run for Senate in New Hampshire where he owns a vacation home but is not currently a resident.
Brown has cast a wide net to keep his name in the political spotlight, but what remains unclear is how serious he is about seeking office again. Brown will decide whether he'll run for governor in Massachusetts "in a week to 10 days."
