Keith Urban 'Never Been on a Journey' Like His New Album

Jen Pereira/ABC News

ABC News' Jennifer Pereira reports:

Keith Urban is back on the road for his "Light the Fuse" tour and this time it's a family affair.

"I'll have them here selling T-shirts," Urban, 45, joked to ABC News' Rachel Smith about his two daughters, Sunday Rose, 5, and Faith Margaret, 2, with wife, Nicole Kidman.

"I'll have Sunny, I'll have a little stand for her," he said.

All jokes aside, the "American Idol" judge says that it's the women in his life, his wife and daughters, who have inspired his latest album, "Fuse," set to drop this September.

"They inspire so much of what I do," Urban told Smith before taking the stage last month in Raleigh, N.C., where he played to a sold-out crowd of 20,000 people. "They hear everything. Nic is hearing all the songs as they're coming in and she lives with this record as long as I do."

When Urban's family does come to see him play, the four-time Grammy winner says there is one particular aspect of life on the road that his daughters look forward to.

"They love the bunks on the bus," he said.

Urban confirmed earlier this month via Twitter that he would return to "American Idol" for a second season on the judging panel, but he told ABC News' Smith the excitement of playing live on stage in front of his fans is still what makes him nervous.

"We have more songs now," Urban said. "I mean that's like the dream of dreams, when you're playing in a cover band six nights a week, doing four hours a night playing everybody's songs but your own, I don't know of any musician who doesn't dream of, 'God, one day, I would really like to play my own songs and have everybody sing along.

"To get to that point now, it's euphoric," he said.
