On last night's season premier of "Glee," one scene called attention to the death of Cory Monteith.

While singing "Yesterday," Lea Michele walks through New York City and pulls out her cell phone to take a look at her high school glee club friends, including Monteith's Finn Hudson.

Monteith, 31, died in July of mixed drug toxicity involving heroin and alcohol, the British Columbia Coroners Service said.

The season premiere will not be the only show that shines a light on the cast's fallen star. A tribute to Monteith is planned for episode three, airing Oct. 10, titled "The Quarterback" after his character's high school football role.

Yesterday, show writer Ryan Murphy tweeted a promotional photo for the episode with the caption, "The hardest word to say is 'goodbye.'"

This past Sunday, the Emmys paid tribute to Monteith by having show co-star Jane Lynch say a few words about her friend.

"Tonight we remember Cory for all he was, and mourn the loss of all he could have been," she said.
