The Oscar-winning star from 2011's "The Artist" Jean Dujardin revealed to reporters that he and his wife since 2009 Alexandra Lamy are separating.
On Tuesday, after months of reports that his four-year marriage was over, Dujardin, 41, addressed the rumors at a literary event in Paris, People magazine reports.
"It has been eight months that tabloids have been trying to make me out as depressed, an alcoholic, a womanizer," he told reporters. "This is no more, or less, than the story of a couple who are separating, like any other couple."
The couple worked together on the set of French comedy "Un Gars, Une Fille," a show Dujardin worked on from 1999 to 2003 before they wed in 2009. After that, the duo also starred in the 2012 film "The Players."
Dujardin was awarded the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2012 for his performance in "The Artist."
While Dujardin has two sons from a previous relationship, he and Lamy have no children together. Dujardin has upcoming roles in "The Monuments Men" opposite George Clooney and "The Wolf of Wall Street" alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.
A request for comment from Dujardin was not immediately returned.
