Lady Gaga is known for her distinctive styles. She once wore a dress made of raw beef. But her latest fashion frenzy pulled inspiration from around the house - a frilly outfit made out of coffee filters.

She wore the ensemble on Thursday's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," ahead of her performance at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

The creation, designed by Gareth Pugh, featured a ruffled dress, cape and giant matching hat complimented by platform shoes. She rode onto the stage in a pedicab.

During her appearance on the show, she discussed the rise of her music career and her love of emerging acts. But somehow, as it regularly seems to do, the conversation returned to her attire.

"I am recycling," she told Kimmel. "You can do anything with your crazy ideas if you put your mind to it."

Gaga's later SXSW performance at Stubb's BBQ took a messy turn when her friend Millie Brown, a "vomit painter," forced herself to throw up neon green liquid over a drum-playing Gaga. The "Born This Way" singer was also covered in black liquid that stained her skin.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
