When Kanye West referred to Kim Kardashian as his "baby mom" on Sunday, two things became clear: yes, they are expecting and, no, they are not married.
In fact, Kardashian is still married to Kris Humphries, whom she split from in October 2011 after 72 days of marriage. Their divorce is not yet finalized.
Kim and Kanye or "Kimye," as they are now referred to on Twitter, aren't the first famous couple to put carriage before marriage.

Jessica Simpson recently announced that she was expecting her second child with her fiancé, former NFL player Eric Johnson. The couple welcomed daughter Maxwell Drew on May 1, 2012. Simpson and Johnson had been planning to wed in November 2011 when she learned she was pregnant. Now the wedding will likely be put off until the birth of baby No. 2. Call it a double-barrel shotgun wedding.
Matthew McConaughey and wife Camila Alves welcomed their third child just after Christmas. But the couple only tied the knot at their Texas home in June 2012, after two children together, 4-year-old son Levi and daughter, Vida, who's almost 3. McConaughey popped the question to the Brazilian model on Christmas Day 2011 after five years together.
Another longtime couple, actors Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard announced in November that they are expecting their first child this spring. Though the "Hit and Run" co-stars have been dating since 2007 and engaged since 2009, they are unmarried. Like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the couple once stated that they wouldn't officially tie the knot until same-sex marriage is legal in their home state of California. In August, Bell told Larry King that kids before marriage "doesn't really bother" the couple.
Speaking of Pitt and Jolie, they are the famous parents of six out-of-wedlock children, three of them adopted. Though they once said they were waiting to marry until after all same-sex couples could legally marry, their children pressured them to finally tie the knot. The couple got engaged in April 2012 after seven years together, and recently Pitt told People that wedding bells may finally be near. "I am getting more pressure from my kids, and it is something I want to do within their lifetime, but I also feel like the time has come," Pitt told People in November. "The time is nigh."
Natalie Portman announced her pregnancy and engagement to Benjamin Millepied all at the same time, in December 2010. The actress met Millepied, a choreographer, on the set of "Black Swan" in 2009. She gave birth to their son Aleph in June 2011. And the couple officially tied the knot in August 2012.
Kate Hudson began dating Muse frontman Matt Bellamy in April 2010. A year later the rocker popped the question. But before the couple made it to the altar, their son Bingham Hawn Bellamy, was born in July 2011. The actress, who was previously married to musician Chris Robinson, told Harper's Bazaar in September 2012 that she and Bellamy would "eventually" marry, adding, "but I want it to be right."
British pop star Adele and her boyfriend Simon Konecki, a former financier-turned-charity-head, welcomed a baby boy in Oct 2012. Despite rumors to the contrary, the couple remains unmarried, and there's been no word on a wedding since August 2012 when Adele tweeted, "I'm not married….Zzzzzzz."
Actors Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, who have been together since 2005, have two boys, Sasha, 5, and Samuel Kai, 4, but the couple is in no rush to get married. "We're very much together," Watts told Parade magazine in 2009. "We just don't have that certificate, and that's OK with both of us."
Kardashian doesn't have to look any further than her own family to find a kindred spirit on baby before marriage. Her older sister Kourtney Kardashian and Kourtney's longtime beau Scott Disick have two kids together, son Mason, 2, and daughter Penelope, 6 months, but remain unmarried. Perhaps Kourtney is the one standing in the way. She told Jimmy Kimmel in June, "I'm really claustrophobic, and all my issues -- and I have a lot of them -- they all stem from this thing. I can't commit to anything... but I love Scott, and he is my partner."
Since meeting at a bar in Paris in June 1988, actor Johnny Depp and French model Vanessa Paradis have been outspoken about not needing a piece of paper to be a fully committed couple. The pair had two children, daughter Lily-Rose, 13, and a son Jack, 10, before announcing their surprising split in June 2012.
