Until this week, Eiza González was a little-known Spanish-language actress and singer hoping to break into Hollywood, but with one steamy kiss with actor Liam Hemsworth, Gonzalez has suddenly been thrust into the spotlight.
The 23-year-old Mexican-born González was photographed kissing the 23-year-old Australian hunk Tuesday, just a day after he and Miley Cyrus officially confirmed that they had ended their 15-month engagement. Earlier, over the weekend, Hemsworth and González were spotted partying at a Las Vegas nightclub.
So just who is Hemsworth's new love interest? Keep reading to find out five things about Eiza González.
González rose to fame at age of 16 when she starred as lead character Lola in the Mexican telenovela, "Lola...Érase una vez (Lola...Once Upon A Time)." She went on to star in five Spanish-language television series and two movies, including "Mujeres Asesinas," "Suena Conmigo" and "Amores Verdaderos."
González is the daughter of former Mexican model Glenda Reyna. Reyna is a judge on Mexico's "Next Top Model," the successful Tyra Banks franchise.
González released her debut album, "Contracorriente," in 2009 and a second, "Te Acordaras de Mi," last year. She also displayed her vocal chops as reality contestant Clara Molina and her secret rock star alter ego Roxy Pop in the musical telenovela "Suena Conmigo."
According to E! Online, González only recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue new opportunities. She appears to have landed one. Director Adrian Cervantes has cast her in his upcoming comedy "All Hail the Squash Blossom Queen," in which she'll play "American girl" Brittany alongside "Harry Potter" star Bonnie Wright, and "Shameless" actor Cameron Monaghan, Cervantes told E!
In August, González announced her split from her boyfriend of two years, Mexican businessman Pepe Diaz, on Twitter, telling her 764,000 followers that she had been single for about a month. She then tweeted that love is "our greatest happiness and pain" in life. "I choose love always!" she wrote.
