Hillary Clinton may already be the Democratic presidential frontrunner, but she likes to root for the underdog -- at least when it comes to reality television.
In an exclusive interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer ahead of Tuesday’s release of her new memoir, “Hard Choices,” Clinton, a fan of ABC's hit show, "Dancing With the Stars," said this past season she found herself cheering for perennial runner-up Maksim Chmerkovskiy (who was paired with Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis) rather than five-time winner Derek Hough.
“I did watch it faithfully this season, and I really like both Max and Derek, but I was very happy that Max finally won,” Clinton laughed. “I don't know what the man would have done with himself had he not. I was really worried.”
During the interview, which took place at Clinton’s Washington, DC home and covered everything from Benghazi to Putin to presidential ambitions, she discussed a range of topics, from her perfect day to one of her favorite hobbies:
The ‘Perfect Day’
For a woman who traveled almost 1 million miles in four years as secretary of state, an evening at home is rejuvenating, Clinton told Sawyer.
“A perfect day is to end it with my family, go for a long walk probably with our dogs. Go out to dinner with friends, see a good movie, sleep late the next morning. I mean, that's -- that's a perfect day,” Clinton said.
Her Washington, DC home is located near a park where Clinton says she can wander with near-anonymity and “shake off the cares of the day.”
One Of Her ‘Favorite Things’
Clinton said she also swims regularly.
“I love to swim, [it’s] one of my absolutely favorite things to do,” Clinton told Sawyer.
But sticking to a water routine “is not one of my strong suits,” the former Secretary acknowledged. “I am gonna try to get better.”
Hillary’s Home Décor Hobby
Clinton showed Sawyer the breakfast nook where she and her mother would sit and talk.
Dorothy Rodham “was a great listener,” Clinton said. “So she would sit here and, you know, I would come in when I was in town and sit down and, you know, kinda, we’d go through the day.”
Since Clinton’s primary residence is in Chappaqua, N.Y. Hillary relied on her mother’s help decorating her DC home.
“I love color, as you can tell from the house. We had a lot of fun picking, you know, the right shades to go on the wall,” Clinton said. “It’s a happy room.”
“My husband has a particular talent of arranging things which he finds very relaxing and then remembering where he put everything,” Clinton added. “So we all have to be quite careful about that.”
