How Caitlyn Jenner Is a 'Better Person' Than Bruce Ever Was
Caitlyn Jenner talks about how her relationship has changed with her mom.
— -- Caitlyn Jenner thinks she's a "lot better person" than Bruce Jenner ever was.
In an extended interview with Vanity Fair published online after the magazine's cover story went to press, Jenner said her family already prefers Caitlyn to Bruce and that Caitlyn seems to have far more friends than Bruce ever had.
"Even my son, actually, Burt said that to me one time. He goes, 'To be honest with you, I think Caitlyn is a lot better person than Bruce,'" Jenner said. "And I really have to -- I think he’s right, because Bruce always had to tell a lie, he was always living that lie, every day, he always had a secret from morning till night. Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets."
Even the way Caitlyn, 65, treats her mom, Esther Jenner, is different than how Bruce would.
"In about a week and a half, OK. I’m sending a plane to go pick her up, and my sister, because she’s 89 years old and cannot get on the airlines, but she has to come down and, you know, we have to do this," she said.
When the interviewer remarked on how cheap Bruce used to be, Jenner replied, "I know. What I told her: 'Isn’t Caitlyn a much better friend?' Bruce, he would never send a plane. No, no, no, what a jerk the guy was, OK, Caitlyn is like, 'Send the plane. Mom, we’re sending a plane, we’re going to go pick you up and bring you down here.'"
As for what that meeting will be like, Jenner said, "My mom is, for 89 years old, is extraordinarily open-minded. I’d wonder how her reaction will be, but like most people, it’s all, all the emotions are in the anticipation of meeting you. Once they meet you and they spend five minutes with you, they go, "Oh, OK, I get it, big deal, let’s go on with life. And I think my mom will kind of be the same way, especially if Caitlyn keeps sending planes to pick her up and bring her down."
If their recent phone conversation is any indication, it will probably go well.
"We had a conversation the other day, we were talking about a lot of things, and, you know, she goes, 'You know what, I think I can have a better relationship with Caitlyn than I can with Bruce,' because we’ve always had a little tension in our relationship throughout the years," Jenner explained. "And so when she ends the conversation, she goes, 'OK, goodbye, Caitlyn.' It was very funny, very cute."
