Following are responses to Nightline's Closing Thought from January 7, 2005:
Read Ted Koppel's Closing Thought on Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal.
I am disturbed that Nightline gave the Hamas "political" leader such a respectful forum.
Mr. Koppel failed to provide any context to explain Israel's actions toward this man. He also failed to explain that Hamas considers all of Israel to be "occupied land." Thus, ending the occupation does not refer to a sovereign Palestinian state in Gaza and the West Bank; rather it refers to making what is now Israel totally Juderein.
Hamas is a terrorist organization and its leaders and members are terrorists, plain and simple. Why glorify them in this way?

I am an American Jew and I congratulate Ted Koppel, the Nightline staff and ABC for the January 7 program about Hamas, including interviews with Yossi Beilin, Haaretz journalist, and Palestinian leaders.
The US public needs to see more programs such as this on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
