Fawcett's friend Alana Stewart and "Charlie's Angels" co-star Kate Jackson were among early arrivals before the hearse arrived, accompanied by 10 motorcycle officers, the Associated Press reports.

Her companion, Ryan O'Neal, was among pallbearers who accompanied the casket, covered in yellow and orange flowers, into the Roman Catholic cathedral.

Her son, Redmond O'Neal, was released from jail temporarily for the occasion.

O'Neal will leave the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic, Calif., where he is enrolled in an inmate treatment program, for Fawcett's private funeral ceremony. I

In April, authorities allowed O'Neal to visit his ailing mother after his family paid approximately $1,300 to cover the costs of providing deputies who supervised the visit.

O'Neal's fourth rehab stint stems from a DUI and drug possession case to which he pleaded guilty in June 2008 and a probation violation from September 2008, when he and his father, Fawcett's longtime romantic partner Ryan O'Neal, were caught in possession of methamphetamines during a routine probation checkup.

Ryan O'Neal is in an 18-month drug diversion program after pleading guilty to a felony drug charge.

Fawcett, the 1970s "It Girl" and iconic actress, died in a Santa Monica hospital last Thursday at the age of 62.

Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal began dating in 1980 and lived together with their son. The two never officially tied the knot, but not for O'Neal's lack of trying.

"I used to ask her to marry me all the time," he said. "But ... it just got to be a joke, you know. We just joked about it."
