Syria is a country located in the Middle East and borders Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq, Israel and Jordan. It has a population of approximately 22 million, according to the CIA World Factbook. Damascus is the capital and the official language is Arabic. The country's current president is Bashar al-Asad and Wael Nader al-Halqi is the prime minister.
