San Francisco Art Gallery Locks Up With 'Genius' Customer Inside
Police sent to help him respond with laughter.

A man spent a nervous night trapped alone at the Majestic Gallery in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, providing plenty of comic relief to the police officers called to help him.
"This person was shopping in the store and didn't realize that they closed and locked up on him, so he's actually locked inside," a police dispatcher said on the radio with a laugh.
Employees at the gallery said they didn't realize the customer was still browsing when they locked up Tuesday. When he realized what happened, he called 911, but the police's reaction to his call was less than sympathetic.
"He's actually locked inside the store," a dispatcher told an officer.
"Get that genius out of there," the officer responded.

Police also had trouble reaching the gallery manager to let the trapped customer out.
"We can't find a number for them right now," the dispatcher told an officer.
"All right, these idiots might have to sleep on the floor then," the officer responded.
Eventually, police were able to open the gallery and set the man free.
"We are taking this circumstance seriously and working to ensure that this doesn't happen again," the manager of Majestic Gallery told ABC News in a statement.
