    The hit ABC show "Scandal" follows character Olivia Pope, a crisis management expert in Washington. Pope is based on Judy Smith, a former Bush Administration press aide turned real-life crisis management expert. Smith has represented many high-profile people, politicians and celebrities.

    Smith worked with NFL quarterback Michael Vick after he was accused of running a dogfighting ring in 2007. Vick pleaded guilty to a federal dogfighting charge and served 18 months in prison. After his release, Smith put together a 45-page action plan with Vick's lawyer to repair his image. It included a national TV interview and work with the Humane Society on an anti-dog fighting campaign.

In August 2013, a federal judge in Georgia threw out a racial discrimination case against Deen, but it didn't stop companies, such as Smithfield, Wal-Mart and Target from dropped lucrative endorsement deals with the Southern chef.
