In New Mexico, based on the exit poll and our analysis of the vote in so far, ABC News projects that in the Senate race, Democrat Martin Heinrich will win over Republican Heather Wilson.

Heinrich previously represented the area around Albuquerque in the House of Representatives. He will fill the seat left open by retiring Democrat Jeff Bingaman.

Heinrich has been a vocal advocate of environmental protections, and he opposes the Keystone Pipeline.
