Buddy Valastro, author of "Baking With the Cake Boss," showed us this morning on "Good Morning America" how to create his Santa cake for Christmas. This cake is fun to decorate with your kids. Bring it to a holiday party or enjoy it with your family on Christmas Eve.
|Assemble the Cake|
Bake two heart-shaped cakes. Layer the cakes with your favorite filling. Ice them with white frosting and let chill in the refrigerator. Set aside extra white frosting in a piping bag with a star tip.
Roll out red fondant to 1/8 inch thick. Turn the heart cake upside down so that the tip of the heart is facing towards the top. Place the fondant across the top of the cake to create Santa's hat. Trim the fondant of any excess.
Using a star piping tip, outline the edge of his hat with the piping bag prepared with the white frosting. Create the ball at the top of his hat with the frosting. Pipe eyes, a nose and a mustache. Fill in everything under the mustache with dots of frosting for his beard. Fill in his eyes using blue food gel. Now the cake is finished! Enjoy with your family and friends.
