We're going to turn to the new ads from coca-cola. Under fire from critics who say soda is fueling america's obe obesity epidemic. The iconic american company is launching a new campaign to show they are part of the solution, not the problem. Jim avila has that from washington. Reporter: Coke has famously brought us happiness. A smile. Even together. ♪ I would buy the world a coke ♪ Reporter: And those dancing polar bears. But critics say, it's also brought us obesity. When you take in sugar and calories as liquid, they're digested and metabolized much faster. And they don't fill you up. Reporter: Sugary sodas are the number one source of calories in the american diet. Even small coke cans carry the equivalent of six sugar cubes. A regular-sized bottle, 14 sugar cubes. And a superbig gulp, like crunching 32 cubes. Together, we want to come together on something that concerns all of us, obesity. Reporter: Now, coke has produced a new ad campaign, claiming it's part of the obesity solution, not the major source of the problem. We offer over 180 low and no-calorie choices. Reporter: Coke introduced smaller cans to cut portion size. And finances exercise programs to work off excess calories. A sports nutritionist, recommended by coca-cola, says sugary sodas are not the only problem. I believe strongly we will have to increase the physical activity level of our population if we want to overcome the obesity epidemic. Reporter: Coke says it is looking for the magic bullet, a sugar substitute that would make its regular coke less sugary. And critics say, that is on the horizon. And likely the solution everyone is looking for.
