Transcript for Woman Caught on Tape Allegedly Planning Husband's Killing
Reporter: This jaw-dropping video reveals a 21-year-old wife planning a hit on her husband. Unless you can do it without breaking his back. Reporter: Julia merfeld met with a man she thought was a hitman for hire. So, you don't want it done in the house, then? It would be messy in the house. Reporter: Providing maps, and a sketch of her home, julia asked the hitman to make the hit look like a robbery. The hitman was an undercover cop. She had approached a co-worker about this idea. And that co-worker felt it serious enough and contacted law enforcement. Reporter: It's why julia wanted to kill her husband that's most shocking of all. It's not that we were getting along. But it was easier than -- as terrible as it sounds, it was easier than divorcing him. I didn't have to worry about the judgment of my family. I didn't have to worry about breaking his heart. It was too embarrassing for her to be divorced. The new motive was probably greed, for the money. Reporter: The money she was allegedly after, her husband's life insurance plan, worth $400,000. She used 50,000 of it to pay her hitman, which she planned to play in $9,000 installments. You watch both encounters. The first encounter and the second encounter. She's calm. She laughs quite a bit. Chuckles, really, at some of the things, whether there's an open casket or closed casket. You want an open casket? I don't want an open casket. Reporter: After that two meetings, julia was arrested and charged with a felony for soliciting murder. She pled guilty. She had every opportunity to call it off. Reporter: Now, this mother of two faces six years or more in prison, all because she didn't want a divorce. But her husband, the victim, says he doesn't want her to go to jail at all.
