Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York City, New York

The research program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center concerned with breast cancer is broad and deep. It really encompasses all aspects of causation, prevention, treatment of early stage disease, and treatment of advanced disease.

Our goal is to better understand the inner workings of breast cancer cells -- what makes them breast cancer cells, what makes them behave as cancer cells -- and then use that information to identify promising new leads for therapy, and finally, to translate those promising leads into meaningful benefits for patients.

We therefore develop all types of new therapies, including specific targeted therapies, that go after important cellular functions -- that is, the things that make cancer cancer.
