Police in Montreal have found what they believe may be the severed head of a Chinese university student who was allegedly murdered, dismembered and eaten by a former Canadian porn actor, Luka Magnotta.
Working off a tip, investigators began on Sunday searching Parc Angrignon, just a few miles from Magnotta's apartment, where they said they found what appeared to be a human head.
"At this moment, we have not confirmed that it is human," said police spokesman Ian Lafreniere.
"Now, we are waiting for analysis that it is human and it belongs to Jun Lin," he said. Lin, 33, was killed in May.
Police would not confirm whether the tip came from Magnotta, 29, who was arrested last month in Germany just days after allegedly videotaping himself murdering Lin, dismembering the man's body and eating parts of his flesh.
Police accuse Magnotta of mailing Lin's hands and feet to schools and government offices, before fleeing to Berlin where he was caught reading articles about himself at an internet cafe.
Lin's torso was found in a suitcase near a dumpster outside Magnotta's home.
Magnotta did not fight his extradition from Germany and was returned to Canada under tight security on June 18. When arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.
