    While in India, Jacqueline met Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, wearing a neat sleeveless dress with the 17", 3-strand faux pearl necklace, designed for her by Kenneth Jay Lane. She wore these pearls with many of her ensembles throughout her term as first lady. They were widely copied and women everywhere wore knock-offs of her faux strands.
