Actor William Shatner got into a friendly Twitter tiff with a Canadian Olympian Tuesday, calling out the Canadians for their free beer machine and joking around about a U.S. bobsledder's tendency to get stuck in closed places.
Shatner gave a shout out to Johnny Quinn, an American bobsledder who used his moves to bust through a jammed bathroom door Saturday.
Checking in on my bob sled team. Is @JohnnyQuinnUSA staying out of trouble?— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) February 12, 2014
Canadian bobsledder Jesse Lumsden tweeted back at Shatner with a satirical photo of a man trapped in a refrigerator, with the message, "No."
Then Shatner upped the game a bit.
Shatner then brought up a refrigerator in Sochi stocked with free beer that only Canadians have access to. They have to scan their passports.
The international incident came to an end when Lumsden referenced "Star Trek," on which Shatner played Captain James T. Kirk.
The exchange followed a friendly Twitter conversation with another Canadian bobsledder and several tweets of support from Shatner to the U.S. bobsledders in Sochi for the Winter Olympics, and Quinn, in particular.
