  • The "Batcave" in Gowanus, Brooklyn. According to Ellis, the old Central Power Station in Brooklyn served as a squat to a group of homeless teenage runaways up until 2006 when they were ousted by authorities after a rash of heroin overdoses and violent incidents.

  • Creedmoor Psychiatric Center Building 25 in Queens, New York. The hospital was founded in 1912 and parts of it still operate today, while other buildings lay abandoned. Building 25 was closed in the 1970s, and has accumulated 40 years of pigeon guano, adding to its otherworldly feeling.
