Wimbledon 2013: Sabine Lisicki Falls to Marion Bartoli in Finals

Marion Bartoli, 28, walked away from the 2013 Wimbledon women's final a star.

The French tennis player took down Sabine Lisicki, 23, of Germany, 6-1, 6-4 in the Wimbledon final on Saturday.

In a tournament that's been marked by big names falling to relative unknowns, Bartoli managed to prove she was a contender, despite the fact that she hasn't won a title since 2011.

ESPN analyst and former professional tennis player Chrissie Evert said she never expected Bartoli to win Wimbledon.

"I can't stress how much she's changed, both on the court and off the court," she said of the newly crowned champion. "She played bold, fearless, she had all the shots. She had so much joy and happiness and I think that really propelled her out there."

Dwight Howard Makes Move From Lakers to Rockets

The Twitterverse exploded overnight after former Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard announced he would be joining the Houston Rockets for the upcoming NBA season.

"I've decided to become a member of the Houston Rockets," he said on Friday night. "I feel that its the best place for me and I am excited about joining the Rockets and I'm looking forward to a great season. I want to take the fans in Los Angeles and wish them the best."

Howard even changed his Twitter avatar to what appears to be an illustration of him in a Rockets' uniform to accompany the news.

"We have been informed of Dwight's decision to not return to the Lakers. Naturally we're disappointed," Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said in a statement. "However, we will now move forward in a different direction with the future of the franchise and, as always, will do our best to build the best team possible, one our great Lakers fans will be proud to support.

"To Dwight, we thank him for his time and consideration, and for his efforts with us last season. We wish him the best of luck on the remainder of his NBA career."

Volcanic Ash Forces Flight Cancelations in Mexico City

U.S. airlines took precautions and cancelled more flights in and out of Mexico City's airport as the Popocatepi volcano continued to spew ash, The Associated Press reported.

Alaska Airlines, United, Delta and AirTran canceled about a dozen flights, fewer than the number on Thursday, Jorge Gomez, spokesman for Mexico City International Airport, told the AP.

The volcano, which stands at more than 15,000 feet, forced at least six U.S. airlines to cancel more than 40 flights on Thursday after it emitted a mile-high cloud of ash, according to the AP.

Residents were advised to take precautions against the dangerous falling ash. The Environment Ministry recommended wearing dust masks, covering water supplies and staying indoors.

Iconic Italian actress Sophia Loren said she will return to the silver screen for her first film in over a decade.

Loren, 78, is set to star in her son's upcoming film, "The Human Voice." The film is based on a one-person play written by the French poet and writer Jean Cocteau, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

This is not the first time the actress, who was last seen stateside in 2009's "Nine," has worked with her son, Edoardo Ponti. She starred in the 40-year-old's feature film debut, "Between Strangers," in 2002.
