We begin with a story of terror and heroism on campus. In happened in texas, at lone star community college. Witnesses saw a lone figure dressed in black, wielding a knife, on a rampage. Images from the scene streamed in all day. Students sprinting to safety. Others carried off on stretchers. At least 14 were injured. And there would have been more if not for a group of quick-thinking, courageous students determined to act. Abc's david wright has the latest tonight. Reporter: The attack began at 11:20 this morning in the college's science department. There's a male running around loose stabbing people. White male, black hat, with a black and white shirt. Reporter: Eyewitnesses said a man carrying an x-acto knife, ran down a hallway slashing students in the face and neck. I was just going to class. I just walked in and I saw a girl bleeding on the stairwell. Reporter: Today, students and faculty members chased down the man with the x-acto knife, as they waited for police to arrive. We have 14 victims that we know of. Reporter: Four of the victims had injuries serious enough to warrant being transported by helicopter to area hospitals. Businessa's houston affiliate ktrk, obtained this cellphone video from a student of sheriff's deputies finally subduing the suspect. A white male, about 21 years of age and currently enrolled at lone star university. Reporter: Fellow students describe him as eccentric, noting he often wore gloves and carried stuffed animals. He carries around like a stuffed animal sometimes. But that's who everybody in the class thought it it was. We've all seen him on campus. The guy carrying around the monkey? The monkey, yes.
