Police believe an armed man has already killed two people and is now holding hostages including children inside a new jersey home. John schriffen is there tonight. Reporter: With guns drawn, police and a s.W.A.T. Team have been on the streets in trenton, new jersey for more than 24 hours trying to end an intense hostage standoff. One woman and child are believed to be dead inside this red brick home. Her three other children still held captive. Relatives actually crossing police lines and begging for an end to the standoff. I'm trying not to think the worst I don't want to think the worse. Reporter: Sources tell us it all started friday afternoon when police arrived at this home to conduct a welfare check. They encountered the alleged gunman who had already shot and killed his girlfriend. He recently moved into the apartment she shared with her five children. They were dating about three months. I don't know what went wrong or how it went wrong but this is what we have now. It's a tragedy. Very tragic. Reporter: So far the only good news, the victim's oldest child who is autistic has reportedly been released. Police have created a large perimeter around the home behind me, even evacuating some nearby residents in case the situation escalates.
