Rebekah says the happiest time in her life was when she was in the third grade. In late May of this year she got into a drunk-driving car accident. Her friend was driving, and neither was wearing a seat belt. She said she practically went through the windshield and had to have surgery to piece her forehead back together. At 17 years old, George said his parents sent him away on a bus. His aunt, he said, gave him an address for what she said was the home of relatives in San Francisco but the address turned out to be for a McDonald's restaurant.

Chris Cuomo talks shop with George about their shared passion for bicycles. For the past several months, George has volunteered his time repairing and rebuilding bikes. Two months ago, George, 18, got on a bus and traveled to his grandparents' home in Washington state. 13-year-old June, of Portland, Ore., was born a boy but identifies as a girl. Facing bullying by her brothers, she says she feels like an outsider in her own home. She often stays with friends and has lived in a shelter. Recently June was accepted into a long-term treatment program, but she didn't last long. She's back at her parents' house and says her family has become more accepting of her. She plans to take another shot at school next year.
