Stephanie Nielson and her husband Christian Nielson have been together since Stephanie was 19. They have four children.

In August, 2008, Stephanie Nielson joined Christian, a licensed pilot, and Kinneard on a plane trip from ArizonA to New Mexico. The plane crashed after takeoff, killing Kinneard and leaving Christian badly burned and Stephanie unrecognizeable.

After the crash, Stephanie Nielson said her younger son, Nicholas, didn't recognize her as his mother. He called his aunt, who cared for him while Stephanie was in a coma, "Mommy."

Today, Stephanie Nielson continues to heal with her family by her side.
