July 2, 2013— -- Yasiel and Monica Puig share no relation. They do share one thing in common other than their last name, however. Both Puigs have caused quite the commotion in sports in the past month.

Los Angeles Dodgers’ right fielder Yasiel Puig was recently brought up from the minors at the beginning of June. Defecting from Cuba in 2012, Yasiel is crushing the ball with a .436 batting average and whopping 44 hits. In just 26 games, the former Cuban professional player is living up to his big-time $42 million contract.

Puerto Rican-born and Miami-raised Monica Puig has had a big year so far with two Grand Slam tournament qualifications. Earlier this year, Monica became the first Puerto Rican female tennis player to reach the third round of the French Open. On June 24th, she eliminated fifth seed Sara Errani in a monumental upset, accomplishing yet another milestone in her young career.
