— -- A California man who decided to press his luck after winning $1,000 from a scratch-off lottery ticket is now a multi-millionaire.

Rodney Meadows, of Modesto, Calif., spent $30 on multiple 30th Anniversary California tickets at a convenience store in Modesto last week, according to a press release issued Tuesday by California Lottery officials.

When one of those tickets won Meadows $1,000, he used the money to immediately purchase three more lottery tickets.

One of the three new lottery tickets proved to be a top prize-winning $10 million ticket for Meadows, who was presented by lottery officials with a giant check.

“First off, I could not believe it," Meadows told lottery officials. "I had to ask the clerk at the store and he said, ‘You better check it again on the machine.'"

The machine was correct and now the store where he purchased the tickets, Fast Mart, will receive a $50,000 bonus for selling the winning $10 million ticket.

Making the double win even more striking, is the fact that Meadows, who says he has not made any decisions yet on how to spend his winnings, has won $1,000 twice before.

“I’ve been playing the California Lottery since day one,” Meadows told lottery officials, adding that he buys lottery tickets four or five times each week.
