The roll-out of the Cadillac is on trend with the release of other powerful performance cars. The automakers’ power move is due in part to a “discernible trend in higher sales for cars like Lamborghini, Jaguar and Ferrari," Bill Visnic, senior editor of Edmunds.com says. But he points out that cars like the Ford GT and Shelby are “halo” cars that garner a lot of attention for automakers but have puny sales compared to their mainstream vehicles.

Pounding metal music greeted the heavy metal rolled out by Ford Motor Company, Jan. 12, 2015, at the Detroit auto show: a new supercar that looks more like a European exotic than a homegrown original. With its dramatic swoops and scoops, the Ford GT is a two-seat speedster, capable of more than 600 horsepower. The car in fact has a racing heritage: it is a rebirth of the GT line responsible for four consecutive wins at the famous 24 hours of Le Mans race back in the 1960s and last sold in 2006. The GT will go on sale in 2016 for an as yet undisclosed price. But Ford says it will compete with Lamborghini and Ferrari models that sell in the $250,000 range.

Acura muscled in on the new interest in muscle cars, rolling out its own hot new version of a sports car it last produced 10 years ago. The new NSX boasts 550 horsepower but driven by both electric and internal combustion power. The company boasts this hybrid combination means “zero-delay acceleration.” So owners of this super roadster priced at around $150,000 will get truly INSTANT gratification.

And Chevy wheeled out a remodeled version of its hybrid Volt that can travel 420 miles on a refill with its combination of battery and gas power -- 40 miles more than the current model.

A Rolls-Royce Corniche III that was owned by Grammy winning artist Lady Gaga and used to travel to the Guggenheim Museum in September 2012 will be auctioned May 17, 2014 in New York by Julien's Auctions. Its estimated value is $30,000 to $50,000. All the proceeds will go to MusiCares, the charitable arm of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.

The URB-E is the world's most compact e-vehicle, with the ability to fold so you can take it on a train or bus, according to EgoLogical Mobility Solutions Inc. Models range from $899 to $1,799. They have a 20-mile range on a single charge with a top speed of 15 mph. Grant Delgatty, co-founder and CEO of EgoLogical Mobility Solutions said the company has been contacted by 29 different distributors in 20 different countries. The company's Indiegogo campaign raised $317,000, more than doubling its goal, when it ended in April 2014.

Rivaling Internet memes like Grumpy Cat, verbally challenged dog, Doge, is so popular that there's a cryptocurrency called Dogecoin. Fans rallied on Reddit by raising $55,000 to sponsor a Dogecoin race car that will be driven by NASCAR driver Josh Wise. The painted car was revealed when Phil Parsons Racing posted this photo on Twitter with the caption: "Here it is! Thanks to all that made it happen. See you in 'Dega!" April 27, 2014.

Joe DeMatio, deputy editor of Automobile Magazine, says a car with a "wow factor" at the N.Y. Auto show is the 2015 Kia Sedona, which has second row "First Class" lounge seating that reclines with leg rests. He called the feature "as good as a business class seat on an airliner, in a minivan." Pricing will be announced closer to the Sedona’s launch date, Kia Motors America said.

The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 convertible, the first Z06 convertible to be produced since 1963, is on display at the New York International Auto Show in April 2014 in New York City. The electronic folding top can open or close while the car is in motion at speeds up to 30 mph, or lowered remotely. Joe DeMatio, deputy editor with Automobile Magazine, said, "A 625-horsepower supercharged V-8, a muscular, lightweight body, and a roof that disappears equals a spectacular summer thrill ride."

Walmart is trying to double its fleet efficiency by 2015 compared to 2005 with advanced concept trucks. The new Walmart Advanced Vehicle Experience concept truck "combines aerodynamic, mictroturbine-hybrid powertrain, electrification, and advanced control systems all in one vehicle," <a href="http://blog.walmart.com/the-future-of-fleet-efficiency">Walmart said</a>. "Like the concept cars you see at auto shows, this prototype will evolve before it's ready for the road."

The Escape RV is made of natural materials, like cedar siding, and starts at $86,400 including delivery to most area in the lower 48 states. The "classic version" is $104,990, according to CanoeBayEscape.com. It has a bedroom with built-in bed, bathroom with heated tile floors and granite countertop, kitchen, living area with vaulted ceilings and a screened living area. Built in Wisconsin, the Escape is a park model RV and moved like a mobile home. The builder recommends a flat spot, preferably with a gravel base though a concrete pad is fine.

The "Hell's Chariot" car, driven by the "T-Birds" gang leader in the 1978 musical film "Grease," is up for auction on eBay. In the film's car race, set in the 1950s, Danny Zuko, played by John Travolta, beats T-Bird "Craterface" Leo, played by the late Dennis Stewart. The Mercury convertible's starting price was $20,000 on Jan. 26, 2013, and bids have surpassed $150,000.

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster equipped and promoted by Monster Audio debuted at the 2014 International CES at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Jan. 7, 2014. Monster created an audio system for the $4.5 million super sports car, only nine of which will be produced, Lamborghini and Monster Audio said.

A 1964 Ferrari 250 LM sold for $14.3 million, a new world record for the model at auction, in RM Auctions and Sotheby's Art of the Automobile sale on Nov. 21, 2013 in New York City. It's described as "one of the finest original examples of Ferrari's first mid-engined car" that finished eighth overall and first in class at the 1968 24 Hours of Daytona. The estimated value was $12-15 million.

A 1938 Talbot-Lago T150-C SS Teardrop Cabriolet by Figoni et Falaschi, "commonly regarded as one of the most beautiful coach built cars of all time" and a "landmark in French Art Deco design," was Sotheby's second priciest car on Nov. 21, 2013. It sold for $7.15 million, a world record for the model at auction. It's the "only" short-wheelbase example with original chassis, engine, and body.

British auction house Historics at Brooklands has a Batmobile up for bid. Made to promote Tim Burton's "Batman" series, the replica comes with a fully operational flame thrower and hydraulic suspension. It was dubbed the 'Keaton-mobile' after Michael Keaton, who played Batman/Bruce Wayne in the movie series. It's expected to fetch between $113,000 to $145,000 when it goes for auction on Nov. 30.

The '14 Range Rover Autobiography Black ultra-luxury edition's "executive" seating option has a chiller for glasses and bottles, 10.2-inch screens on the front headrest backs, electricrically deployable leather trays, and reclining, massage-equipped rear seats. The right side has a "powered recliner calf rest." It reportedly is $225,000, but Land Rover will reveal the price at the L.A. Auto show.

A gold and platinum Lamborghini designed by German Robert Gulpen may be worth 10.5 million euros, or more than $14 million at auction once it is completed. The retail price for the "Emirates Gold" car, marketed by Lamborghini UAE is about $8 million. Its gold and precious stones are worth 2 million euros alone. Its headlights are made of diamonds and its rear lights use colored precious stones.

The highest bid for James Bond's Lotus Esprit submarine car, auctioned by <a href="http://www.rmauctions.com/" target="external">RM Auctions</a> on Sept. 9, 2013 is $967,120, including a buyer's premium of 12 percent. The vehicle in 1977's "The Spy Who Loved Me," starring Roger Moore, was discovered in a storage locker in Long Island, N.Y.

A green Daimler owned and driven by Queen Elizabeth II fetched $62,755 at a London auction, the Associated Press reported. The vehicle was used from 2001 to 2004 by the Queen according to auction house Historics.

A rare Ferrari convertible sold for $27.5 million, setting a new world record for the most expensive Ferrari and non-race car ever sold at auction. The 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 N.A.R.T. Spider, one of only 10 ever made, is considered the "holy grail for collectors," according to RM. The car belonged to a single-family owner, which increased its value. The owner said proceeds will go to charity.

This Ferrari 330GT was personally selected by Beatles singer/songwriter John Lennon as his first car in February, 1965, and was sold at auction by Bonhams, a United Kingdom auction house, for about £359,900 (about $543,773) on July 12, 2013.

Gooding & Company, the auction house of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, hosted the 10th Anniversary sale of the Pebble Beach Auctions, Aug. 17 and 18. This 1948 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Competizione, sold for a record price of $4.84 million after a bidding war. One of the rarest post-war Alfa Romeos known, it is one of only two factory-made sports cars developed for the 1948 racing season.

This 1965 Ferrari 500 Superfast is described as "the most powerful, exclusive, and expensive Ferrari of the sixties". Worth about $1.75 to $2.25 million, this Ferrari had only one owner since 1966 and approximately 13,500 original miles, "possibly the lowest-mile example in existence", Gooding & Co. says. This Series 1 model was the sixth example built of only 36 produced.

The eleMMent Palazzo is a motor home worth about $3.1 million, or £2 million, Yahoo! reports. It features a fireplace, colossal master bedroom and a rooftop terrace. Created in Dubai, the vehicle can wash itself and can transform into a "Sky Lounge" with a pop-up cocktail bar and underfloor heating.

The eleMMent Palazzo allows users to pre-set the lighting and temperature before you return to your vehicle after a night on the town. Its height is about 430 feet.

This 1953 Ferrari 340/375 MM Pinin Farina Berlinetta "Competizione" sold for 9,856,000 euros or $12,812,800, including buyer's premium, in an auction hosted by RM Auctions at Lake Como, Italy, on May 25, 2013. It has been driven by three world champions (Mike Hawthorn, Alberto Ascari and Giuseppe "Nino" Farina) and was one of three 375 MM cars at the 1953 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

Auction house Bonhams had on the block an Aston Martin DB5 Sports Saloon that was discovered in a garage after it was left there for about 30 years. The car was auctioned off for £320,700 or about $492,948, including buyer's premium.

An exclusive Lamborghini Pregunta, built to resemble a fighter jet, is on sale for about $2.1 million at a French dealership. The car was first unveiled at the 1998 Paris motor show.

The new Lamborghini Veneno, the automaker's fastest model ever, to mark its 50th anniversary, is presented by CEO and Chairman Stephan Winkelmann on March 4, 2013 ahead of the Geneva Car Show in Geneva. Winkelmann said the company is building three models of the car, at 3 million euros each. He said it can accelerate "from zero to 62" mph in 2.8 seconds. Two of the three buyers live in the U.S.

One of the iconic cars used in the 1988 film, "Rain Man," which won the Oscars for best picture, actor, director and screenplay, sold for $170,500 on Dec. 14. In the film, the dead father of Charlie Babbit, played by Tom Cruise, left the 1949 Buick to him while giving his brother, Raymond, played by Dustin Hoffman, the rest of his fortune.

A man in Vancouver sold "The Mystery Machine" used in the 2009 movie, "Scooby Doo! The Mystery Begins." The 1994 Chevrolet G20 cargo van was listed for $2,000 and sold for $5,111. It had about 62,137 miles on it, or 100,000 km and "runs great," the Craigslist and eBay listings state. While there are dents on it, "many of them were put in by the film crew to make it look more authentic."

The Rolls Royce used to transport Prince Charles and Princess Diana during their first visit to the United States was auctioned by the Volo Auto Museum in Illinois for $122,360 on Nov. 16, 2012.The museum states that a portion of the sale for the the armor-plated car benefits Children with Leukemia, a charity supported by the late Princess of Wales.

A broken 1972 Dodge van that reportedly has a doodle by the late musician, Kurt Cobain, sold for $24,701 on online auction site, eBay, according to the Seattle Post Intelligencer. One of the first touring vans of local band The Melvins, for whom Cobain was once a roadie, it reportedly includes a drawing by him of the rock band, KISS.

A Ford used by Steve McQueen in the race car film "Le Mans" became the most expensive American car ever sold at auction, according to RM Auctions. The 1968 Ford GT 40 (a similar version of which is pictured above) sold for a record $11 million at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Aug. 19. 2012.

A 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster once owned by German Baroness Gisela von Krieger was auctioned by Gooding & Company on Aug. 19, 2012 for $11.77 million. In 2011, the company set a record after selling a 1957 Ferrari for $16.4 million at the same Pebble Beach Auction.

This 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO has been sold in a private transaction to U.S.-based collector Craig McCaw for $35 million, according to Bloomberg Businessweek.

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler bought the world's fastest convertible, the Hennessey Venom GT Spyder, which the company custom-built into the only model without a top, upon the musician's request. Only five 2013 Venom GTs were built at $1.1 million each. The Venom accelerates to 200 mph in 15.9 seconds, eight seconds faster than a Bugatti Veyron, according to car website Jalopnik.
