Andrea Canty, a real estate agent with Re/Max Premier Inc. in Detroit said many of these rock-bottom listings are homes that are not habitable, vandalized, or suspected of housing squatters.

About 90 homes in Detroit were listed for less than $1,000 on Zillow -- mostly homes that are in foreclosure or are bank-owned, boarded up and vacant. This two-bedroom, one-bathroom home is listed for $100.

This three-bedroom, one-bathroom "bungalow style" home is listed on Zillow.com for $70. Built in 1923, it was last sold in Oct. 2000 for $4,000.

How will Motor City bounce back? Its metro housing market began its turnaround in Nov. 2011, after falling 52 percent from its peak. In June, the median home value was up 14.3 percent year-over-year and 72 percent of the homes sold during the month were sold for a gain, Zillow reports. In the second quarter, values were up a whopping 3.3 percent. This three-bed home is on sale for $219,000.
