Aug. 20, 2011— -- This week, the karaoke battle moved north to Chicago, where the Windy City turned out to be the talented city, serving up a crop of stand-outs singing everything from country, to classic R&B, to Lady Gaga.

There were plenty of surprises on tap, including our oldest competitor to date, 64-year-old former Marine Gregg Moore who put mist in the eyes of our judges with a heart-felt rendition of "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes."

But in the end it wasn't crooners who caught the ears of our judges, who instead put rocker Josh Scholl and country-flavored Jeremy Wallis on top for the guys, and countrified Cassandra Mae and goth-tinged Dominique Hutchinson through for the girls.

The final battle was close, with Jeremy firing first singing Garth Brooks' "The Change." Josh countered with a frenetic rendition of Loverboy's "Working for the Weekend." For the girls, Dominique dropped a stirring rendition of Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me," with Cassandra belting out Martina McBride's "A Broken Wing."

After the final votes it was a little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll that carried the day, with the judges making Cassandra and Josh our latest semi-finalists.
