— -- Anthony Geary has played Luke Spencer on "General Hospital" for decades.

Today, his final episode on the ABC soap opera will air.

"It is act three, curtain up, and I’m there center stage," he told Nightline of his new chapter.

Geary, 68, won eight Emmy awards for the role and cemented his place in pop culture history when Luke wed Laura, played by Genie Francis, in the most-watched moment in daytime television history. However, now the actor is focused on the future, which includes a move to Amsterdam.

"[I'll] spend the summer on my boat and my bicycle and go back into my languages classes," he said. "I’ve been writing, so I’m going to concentrate on a book."

He's also looking forward to getting back to work. Geary told Nightline that while he's fluent in Dutch, he wants to improve his language skills such that he can audition for a local theater company. His bucket list, he said, includes acting in another language.

"I would like to experience what it’s like to play an American in a Hungarian movie, or play a Hungarian in a Dutch movie," he said. "I think that would be a fascinating experience."
