— -- "Bachelor in Paradise" fans have seen the stars of the show go on exotic dates all around Mexico.

However, life behind the scenes isn't always as exciting.

ABC News visited the set of "Bachelor in Paradise" during production, ahead of tonight's season finale, and spoke to the show's stars about what they really did all day.

Hint: There's a lot of "hanging out."

Lauren Himle: "It’s a lot of just hanging out and talking and drinking ... and drinking ... and drinking. It was just fun: You kind of hang out by the pool, go on a date, talk."

Brett Melnick: "You wake up, drama, you eat, drama, pool, drama, you go swimming, drama, you lay out, drama, and love happens. I guess that was paradise in a nutshell."

Shushanna Mkrtychyan: "Eating fresh fruit, drinking cocktails!"

Grant Kemp: "We all live with each other here so it’s kind of like a big family but it’s not a family, you know what I mean? So yeah, I mean, we wake up, hang out usually, work out. Lace [Morris] likes to work out with me sometimes, and yeah, it just depends what we want to do. Everybody sits there and hopes for a date card – the usual!"

Nick Viall: "Most of the time we’re just hanging out. I’m a big coffee drinker so the first thing I’m doing is having a big cup of coffee. And I think especially early on there’s some early risers. Daniel [Maguire]’s an early riser so Daniel and I would kinda sit down and have some pretty interesting chats. ...A lot of the guys would do a little working out at the beach and try to make a gym out of some rocks and doing push-ups and running back and forth and then usually every day someone new would show up and someone would go on a date so there was always that anticipation of what’s next. Once we figured that out, we just hang out whether it’s by the pool or by the beach. If you had someone here that you were connecting with, you try to spend some alone time and see if you could advance the relationship."
