— -- Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden "were married this evening in an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Angeles," their rep told People magazine.

"We couldn't be happier to begin our new journey together surrounded by our closest family and friends," the couple told the magazine

Less than a month after news of her engagement started to circulate, Diaz, 42, secretly tied the knot on Monday night in Beverly Hills. This comes less than a year after the two were first spotted holding hands last summer.

The actress, who has famously dated A-listers like Justin Timberlake and Jared Leto, started seeing the Good Charlotte musician earlier in 2014 and was spotted with a new sparkler on "that finger" toward the end of the year.

The couple were introduced by Madden's sister-in-law Nicole Richie, she revealed last year on "Watch What Happens Live."

"I am a devoted sister-in-law and I am happy for anybody who's happy," she added. "I want everyone to be surrounded with love."

Diaz and Madden first stepped out together in June and by July, pictures were popping up of the two going for coffee runs together.

Diaz has been open in the past about shy she never married and never had kids.

In July, she told Esquire, "It’s so much more work to have children. To have lives besides your own that you are responsible for -- I didn’t take that on. That did make things easier for me. A baby -- that’s all day, every day for eighteen years.”

The "Bad Teacher" actress continued, "I like protecting people, but I was never drawn to being a mother."

She also dished to InStyle magazine in April on how she wasn't too sure about monogamy.

“I don’t know if anyone is really naturally monogamous. We all have the same instincts as animals. But we live in a society where it’s been ingrained in us to do these things,” she said.
