Celine Dion Thanks Fans for 'Outpouring of Love and Support' After Husband's Funeral
The singer said she and her family were "deeply touched" by the condolences.
— -- Celine Dion is saying thank you to fans who offered their condolences after the death of her husband, Rene Angélil.
Angélil died Jan. 14 after a lengthy battle with throat cancer. He was 73.
"My family and I are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support from so many people who have touched our lives during these past few days," the singer wrote in a statement on her website.
"We have felt your love for René, and your prayers and compassion have helped us during this most difficult time...more than you'll ever know. I thank you from the bottom of my heart," the statement continued.
Dion, 47, also thanked the Quebec government "for honoring René with National Funerals as well as the many individuals and organizations who came together to hold such a beautiful tribute in his name. We will never forget all of the kindness that you have bestowed upon us."
Dion and Angélil wed in 1994 at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal -- the same cathedral where he was memorialized last week. The couple have three sons together.
