— -- A college student got the chance of a lifetime when he traveled recently from Houston to Philadelphia to see Bruce Springsteen live.

Matthew Aucoin, a 19-year-old Texas A&M sophomore, told ABC's Philadelphia station WPVI-TV that he and his dad had made the more-than-1,000-mile trek to attend the concert Friday at Citizens Bank Park.

"I had to pick a date that was close to a weekend and that didn't interfere with my studies," the longtime fan said.

Aucoin said he came with a poster reading "Can a college kid play 'No Surrender' with you?" and hoped for a spot in the crowd that would get him noticed by the singer.

"I just got my sign and stuck it in his face," Aucoin said. "At the bottom, I wrote every chord to the song in order to show him I wasn't messing around."

Aucoin shared with WPVI-TV that he'd only practiced the chords to "No Surrender" a few days before the show. When Springsteen saw the poster and ushered him to the stage, Aucoin became a member of a lucky group of fans to grace the stage with The Boss.

After the two sang and played the guitar together, Aucoin said the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer told him that he'd done a good job.

"I can't even put the feeling into words because of how much I've looked up to him throughout my life," he said. "I want to send a big thank you to Bruce and the band for giving me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!"
