— -- In February, Daphne Oz and her husband John Jovanovic welcomed their daughter, Philomena.

It was also around that time that Jovanovic learned his way around the kitchen.

"My husband’s not a huge cook, but he started cooking for me all the time when I was first home from the hospital, and now we have his signature baked salmon dish," the "Chew" co-host said in an interview with Bravado Designs. "Sometimes the menu was repetitive but it was delicious. All you care about during that time is having someone else do the cooking for you, which was much, much appreciated.”

Oz, 28, explained that welcoming baby Philo was a life-changing event for the couple, who wed in 2010. For one thing, it was a test of their ability to communicate, which Oz said has been vital since they became parents.

"The only piece of advice I have for [new fathers] is to be patient and be supportive because your wife or partner is definitely going through a trial-and-error process. She is just looking to you for affirmation and support," she said. "And for the women, don’t be afraid to tell them what you need. Sometimes my husband would get home, and I would tell him I need you to rub my feet. You have to rub my feet right now. It’s always appreciated when your partner knows what they can to do to help you be successful."

But through it all, the ABC star, who has partnered with Bravado Designs to donate $128,500 worth of nursing bras and Medela breast pumps to the philanthropic organization Baby Buggy, gushed that motherhood has been a "wonderful experience."

"What I’ve learned is that as a mom I thought I was going to have things under control and know what I was doing and it quickly became apparent that was not the case," she said. "I’m learning as much from her as I hope I will one day be able to teach her. We just have fun together.”
