— -- Demi Lovato knows that what she says in interviews is often put under a microscope, but that isn't stopping her from speaking her mind anyway.

In her cover story for Glamour magazine, Lovato is asked about her past comment about Taylor Swift, in which she said of the singer, "Don’t brand yourself a feminist if you don’t do the work.”

"Talking about it at all is doing the work," she explained. "And I think every woman does her part in some way. But I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they’re going to claim that as part of their brand."

Lovato, 24, was previously friendly with Swift, 26, though she is not a member of the "Bad Blood" singer's social circle at this point. In fact, Lovato said of "squads" in general: "I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like."

"It’s not realistic. And I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment," she said. "We all do things that aren’t, but I have to ask myself, 'Am I content with calling myself a feminist? Yes, because I speak out.'"

Swift's hit "Bad Blood" is rumored to be about Perry, though she has never confirmed that.

After the interview hit stands, Lovato apparently got flak online for her comments, though she isn't backing down.

"I get asked questions. I answer them. Sue me. Also don't forget that words can be taken out of context when doing interviews.. still not apologizing for saying what everyone want[s] to say," she wrote on Twitter. "I don't understand why people care so much about what I say in interviews? Do y'all watch the news? Don't y'all got s--- to worry about?"
