Dec. 31, 2013 -- intro: Phil Robertson is in hot water, again.
A video has surfaced on YouTube in which the "Duck Dynasty" patriarch advises men to marry teenage girls.
"Look, you wait 'til they get to be 20 years old, the only picking that's going to take place is your pocket," he said. "You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16. They'll pick your ducks. You need to check with mom and dad about that, of course."
Robertson, who married his wife when she was 15 (he's four years older than Marsha Kay), gave other "river rat counseling," too.
"Make sure that she can cook a meal. You need to eat some meals that she cooks. Check that out," he said. "Make sure she carries her Bible. That'll save you a lot of trouble down the road. And if she picks your ducks, now that's a woman!"
The video was reportedly recorded in 2009 at a Sportsmen's Ministry event in Georgia.
Robertson, 67, gave a controversial interview to GQ magazine earlier this month in which he compared homosexuality to bestiality.
The "Duck Dynasty" star, 67, was subsequently suspended by his show's network, A&E, after his anti-gay comments made the rounds. The network, of which ABC is a part owner, has since reversed that decision.
But here's a quick look back at some of the most talked-about comments from his now-famous GQ interview. Plenty of conversation starters here.
title: On Religion and the Nazistext: "All you have to do is look at any society where there is no Jesus. I'll give you four: Nazis, no Jesus. Look at their record. Uh, Shintos? They started this thing in Pearl Harbor. Any Jesus among them? None. Communists? None. Islamists? Zero. That's eighty years of ideologies that have popped up where no Jesus was allowed among those four groups. Just look at the records as far as murder goes among those four groups."
title: On Louisiana Before Civil Rightstext: "I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash. We're going across the field. ... They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people' -- not a word! ... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues."
quicklist: 3title: On Who's Heaven-Boundtext: "Don't be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers -- they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right."
quicklist: 4title: On Health Caretext: "Temporary is all you're going to get with any kind of health care, except the health care I'm telling you about. That's eternal health care, and it's free. ... I've opted to go with eternal health care instead of blowing money on these insurance schemes."
title: On Jesustext: "If you simply put your faith in Jesus coming down in flesh, through a human being, God becoming flesh living on the earth, dying on the cross for the sins of the world, being buried, and being raised from the dead -- yours and mine and everybody else's problems will be solved. And the next time we see you, we will say: 'You are now a brother. Our brother.' So then we look at you totally different then. See what I'm saying?"
quicklist: 6title: On 'Perversions'text: Footage of the "Duck Dynasty" star (and Duck Commander inventer) making a speech in 2010 angered Robertson's critics. In the video, Robertson called same-sex sexual activities "shameful" and "perversions." He also implied that homosexuality was a result of people who "suppress the truth about God," causing God's wrath.
"Women with women, men with men. They committed indecent acts with one another, and they received in themselves the due penalty for their perversions," Robertson said. "They're full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant, God-haters. They are heartless, they are faithless, they are senseless, they are ruthless. They invent ways of doing evil."
