— -- Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine is a certified heartthrob.

The singer, who was voted Sexiest Man Alive in 2013 by People Magazine, has legions of female fans, one of whom stormed the stage to hug him while he was performing at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, on Monday.

Video of the encounter shows the woman making her way onto the stage and right up to the singer, grabbing him and hugging him tightly. At first, he pushes her away, telling her to “calm down.”

Once he realizes she isn’t a threat, the “Animals” singer -- who is a judge on "The Voice" -- puts his arm around her until security arrives.

After she’s escorted away, Levine, 36, tells the crowd: “It's just weird to be, like, in the moment, you know? And you're singing, and your eyes are closed, and you have this beautiful moment. And then the next thing you know someone's f***ing in your face … It's super terrifying."

He also said the fan “cut my ear with her fingernail.”

People took to Twitter to sound off. Some even complained that overzealous fans like that woman were to blame for added security measures that kept other fans away from their music idols.

This isn’t the first on-stage ambush by an adoring fan.

In 2013, Justin Bieber -- and his piano -- were knocked to the floor of the stage when a fan ran up to him and was quickly stopped by security during a concert in Dubai.

Beyonce had a far more frightening encounter in Brazil in 2013, when a male fan actually dragged her off the stage. Her security quickly intervened.
