— -- After his indictment last week on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography, former "Glee" star Mark Salling has lost a role.

Director Adi Shankar said in a statement Tuesday that Salling has been cut from his upcoming miniseries "Gods and Secrets," and that a percentage of profits from the project will go to a charity for abused children.

"Hopefully some good will come of all of this and I pray that when the dust has settled, the hyper-connectivity of the information age that has brought to light the transgressions of several public figures, will also force us to look within our society to identify and eliminate the root cause of the rape culture we exist in," Shankar wrote on Facebook.

The director's upcoming film, "Adi Shankar's Gods and Secrets," will delve into the darker side of a world that includes superheroes.

Salling, 33, played bad-boy Noah “Puck” Puckerman on "Glee" for its six-year run on Fox.

Salling was arrested by Los Angeles police Dec. 29, indicted last week and is expected to be arraigned Friday in court, where he could enter a plea. His lawyer has not responded to ABC News' multiple requests for comment.
