— -- “Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow,” the magical tale that will premiere on Saturday, might never have been told.

The film, a Thanksgiving tale which focuses on a family’s hunt for a mythical creature, was created from Jim Henson’s forgotten manuscript, which was discovered in Henson’s archives after 45 years.

Lisa Henson resurrected her late father’s manuscript as a Lifetime movie. She even found her father’s puppet prototypes.

“We want to make a movie that people would see every Thanksgiving,” Lisa Henson said in an interview with ABC News' Nick Watt.

The film features fantastical creatures, and a cast that includes actress Mary Steenburgen, Jay Harrington and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges.

“I think the secret to what Jim Henson did ultimately is that he understood how to cut through to the...I know this sounds corny...but the child inside of you,” Steenburgen said. “I always felt like I was 10 years old around them.”

The film’s creatures are updated versions of Henson’s prototypes.

Lisa Henson said her father never made the movie because in 1969 "the entire company was all-hands-on-deck working on ‘Sesame Street.’”

She said she believes the film is what her father would have wanted.

“I hope he would love this film,” she said.

Steenburgen said there was “not even an hour” on the set when Jim Henson’s name wasn’t invoked.

“Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow” premieres 8 p.m. Saturday on Lifetime.
