— -- What was Kevin Spacey doing at the Florida Panthers hockey game Saturday, wearing a sweatshirt with his own face on it?

No, the "House of Cards" actor isn't like his narcissistic character, Frank Underwood. Instead, the actor was lending his support to the NHL team, attending their game against the Detroit Red Wings.

In case you didn't know, the Panthers have sort of adopted Spacey, 56, as the team's unofficial mascot. Whenever a player performs really well during a winning game, they're handed a blue sweatshirt with Spacey's head floating on it.

It has been dubbed the "Spacey in Space" sweatshirt and the actual meaning behind it remains a mystery.

The only one in on the team's inside joke is Spacey himself. He tweeted in December, "Only I really know what #SpaceyInSpace means. Hope it continues to bring good luck!"

Still, Spacey sported his own blue sweatshirt Saturday during the game. Masks featuring Spacey were even handed out inside the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida, to fans.

After the game, the Oscar winner stopped by the locker room to greet the team and take pictures, of course. In a photo posted to Instagram, Spacey said to the team: "Thank you @flapanthers and all the fans for such a wonderful welcome tonight."

But Spacey's visit didn't bring much luck to the team. The Florida Panthers lost to the Detroit Red Wings, 5-3.
