— -- There's a new girl to look out for on "New Girl" next season.

Entertainment Weekly reported that "New Girl" is bringing in actress Megan Fox to temporarily replace Zooey Deschanel while the “500 Days of Summer” actress goes on maternity leave.

Deschanel gave birth to her first child, a girl, last month, and will be absent from multiple episodes of the upcoming season, producers said.

Fox will play a new character, “Reagan,” who sublets Deschanel’s character Jess’ bedroom after Jess gets sequestered for jury duty, show producers said.

Fox’s character is described to be a “gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep who comes to town on business and shakes things up in the loft.”

Executive Producer Liz Meriwether said that Reagan’s part was written with the “Transformers” actress in mind. “She’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up,” Meriwether said.

"New Girl" producers are not the only ones excited about the new addition to the cast. Actor Max Greenfield, who plays "Schmidt" on the show, shared his excitement about his character's new roommate on Twitter.

Fox’s first appearance will be in the sixth episode of next season, which is scheduled to air in January.
