— -- Musician Nick Cave's son Arthur has died after falling from a local cliff in Brighton, England.

A police spokeswoman in Sussex told ABC News that the 15-year-old son of the frontman for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds "sadly died after having fallen from the cliffs at Ovingdean Gap."

The statement from police added that the boy was found yesterday with "life-threatening injuries" and died later in the day.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious," police add.

Bystanders tried first aid on the boy before he was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, adds the Guardian.

Cave and his wife Susie also released a statement, saying, "Our son Arthur died on Tuesday evening. He was our beautiful, happy, loving boy. We ask that we be given the privacy our family needs to grieve at this difficult time."

The couple's late son also had a twin Earl, and Cave has two boys from previous relationships.

Cave, 57, is a singer, songwriter, author, composer and actor most known for his band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, which was formed in the early 1980's. Cave has put out more than 20 albums with The Bad Seeds and other groups.
