'Orange Is the New Black' Star Dascha Polanco Charged With Assaulting Teen Girl
Her lawyer tells ABC News he expects charges to be dropped.
— -- "Orange is the New Black" star Dascha Polanco appeared in a Manhattan courtroom Thursday, accused of assaulting a 17-year-old girl.
Michelle Cardona claims Polanco, 33, got physical with her on July 29, according to court documents obtained by ABC News. The actress, who portrays Dayanara Diaz on the popular Netflix series, is now facing four charges of assault, attempted assault and harassment.
Polanco is accused of scratching Cardona, punching her in the head repeatedly and pulling her hair.
"This is an unfortunate consequence of being successful,” Gerald Lefcourt, Polanco's lawyer, told ABC News.
Lefcort said Polanco has not yet entered a plea. Her next court appearance is Jan. 28.
