— -- Paul Rudd’s favorite team is headed to the World Series. The actor planned on throwing a house party to celebrate.

“I’m gonna be partying at my mom’s house … party at my mom’s. She’s out of town. I got a keg, it’s gonna be sweet,” he told ABC affiliate KMBC after the Kansas City Royals won 2-1 Wednesday, clinching the American League pennant over the Baltimore Orioles.

“Five dollar cover,” he said.

Rudd is a longtime Kansas City sports fan. His family moved to Overland Park, Kansas when he was 10 years old, and he attended high school and college in Kansas. The “Anchorman” actor was on the field at Kauffman Stadium following the Royals’ victory Wednesday, watching the trophy presentation ceremony.

The Royals’ surprising playoff run – the team’s first postseason appearance since 1985 – has given Rudd reason to celebrate.

“I’ve lost my voice. But I’ve lost my voice pretty much every game since the Wild Card,” he told KMBC.

Kansas City will face either the San Francisco Giants or St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series.
