Simon Cowell: 'I'm Proud to Be a Dad'
The 'X Factor' judge confirms he's expecting a child with Lauren Silverman.
Aug. 20, 2013— -- It wasn't something the music mogul had been planning, but Simon Cowell, 53, said he feels good about becoming a father.
"I'm proud to be a dad," Cowell told the BBC on Tuesday at the London premiere of One Direction's documentary "This Is Us."
This confirms weeks of speculation that Cowell and socialite Lauren Silverman, 36, are expecting a child.

"Things are changing in my life right now, for the better," the 'X Factor" judge added.
The statements made to the BBC were the first since Cowell told reporters at the beginning of the month that he would have to wait and respect the feelings of other people before he spoke out on the matter.
"There's a lot of things I will eventually clear up when the time is right, but I really have to be sensitive because there's a lot of people's feelings involved here," he said at the Television Critics Association press conference on Aug. 1.

Silverman has been reportedly going through a divorce with Cowell's former friend and New York City real estate investor Andrew Silverman. All three - Cowell, Lauren Silverman and Andrew Silverman - vacationed together on multiple occasions in 2012.
